The Sounds of Bamboo

From the island of Malaita, in the eastern part of the Solomon Islands, the 'Are' people present a core of their musical arts through 37 performances from panpipe ensembles, solo and duet stamping tubes, wooden slit drum ensembles, and six vocal compositions. This recording was made as part of the MABO Project, dedicated to documenting the traditional arts, music, and oral cultures of each region within the islands. 37 tracks. 70 minutes.
