The name Rootstock is derived from the horticultural term meaning "a root and its associated growth buds."  Rootstock Recordings was founded to support the roots (the traditional foundations) of music and all the various musical growth buds from around the world.  We release new musical performing artists and work to help them find wider audiences.

We are always seeking new recordings by world music artists. And when we say "world music," we mean the entire world, including the United States.  Think about it.  If you live in Tashkent, or Timbuktu, or Tokyo, or Tijuana, roots music from the United States is world music.

What counts most, for us at least, is whether the music reflects the "roots" of traditional musical styles from anywhere in the world.  Come, help us grow our musical roots!
